HOW CAN YOUR KIDS BENEFIT FROM BALLROOM DANCING?

Ballroom Dance Encourages Socialization

Dance is a highly social activity and dance lessons are a great place for kids to make new friends. With each class, children learn to improve their communication and social skills by interacting with other dancers in dance class and learn how to work as part of a team, develop a greater sense of trust and cooperation, and build new friendships. In time, students learn how to cooperate and trust in one another. It’s not uncommon for children to create a lifelong relationships from dance. Dance friends are forever friends!

Ballroom Dance Improves Self-Esteem

When your child experiences the joy of dancing, he or she learns about expressing themselves in a way that’s beneficial to their physical and mental health. During ballroom dance lessons, a child gains a better understanding of their body and how it moves. Children with a background in dance are typically more comfortable about their body and have improved levels of self-confidence which creates an enhanced emotional development. It takes great courage and confidence to dance on stage in front of an audience, and dance helps encourage both of these wonderful qualities. Dance also helps foster a positive attitude. The instructors at Phox Dance Academy will help create an encouraging environment that helps turn each Ballroom Dance Lesson into a positive, constructive experience.

Expression through dance gives the children the freedom to channel their emotions and energies in a safe environment and confidence will increase significantly.

Behavioural Issues and Ballroom Dancing

Since ballroom dancing is a style that requires intense focus, discipline and coordination, parents will find that dance lessons help improve behavioural issues, such as hyperactivity. Group Classes and Private Lessons are engaging and demanding, designed for kids, but as your child progresses in dance, their lessons will require more focus and discipline. The art of dancing tends to have a calming effect on children and also helps them release all the extra energy.

Ballroom dance classes improve classroom performance

Attending dance classes allows children to learn self-discipline and time management. Dance requires focus and discipline which translates in academic performance and enhances cognitive performance. In addition, dance lessons help reinforce educational basics, like counting. Children also learn to differentiate right from left and fast from slow. As they get more involved with ballroom dancing kids must learn how to balance school, dance, extracurricular activities, and their social life. The commitment, discipline and focus children learn and practice in dance classes are important life skills that will transfer over to school, work and other aspects of their lives.

Ballroom Dance Encourages an Active Lifestyle and Creativity

No matter the style, dance encourages children to be more creative and to express themselves in many ways. By encouraging creativity and imagination, children learn to build trust, effective relationships, and how to think critically.

In today’s world of technology , it is becoming increasingly important for children to create a physically active lifestyle early on. Dance is the perfect way to keep kids physically active in a fun way. At Phox Dance Academy, they will improve their motor skills, posture, focus and their creativity. The movements in dance also help improve balance and coordination. Dance focuses heavily on proper body alignment and learning how to move the body to create fluid motion.
